Watch: Sheriff Seeks Information On Lithia Car Burglar

LITHIA, FL -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to locate an auto burglar who has been targeting cars in the Lithia area.

A newly released surveillance video from a home in the 6000 block of Shell Ridge Drive in Lithia around 4 a.m. Oct. 30 shows the burglar checking the door handle of a vehicle to see if it's unlocked. This time the car was locked and the burglar walked away empty-handed.

"What you see in this video is a great example of why we can't remind the residents of Hillsborough County enough to lock their car doors," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We can't make it easy for the bad guys. This homeowner locked up their car and because of it, the burglar moved on."

The burglar is a white or Hispanic man, 18 to 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall. He may have a tattoo on his right arm and another on his upper left arm. Anyone who recognizes the burglar is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200. To be eligible for a cash reward, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
