Who: Rayna Light, 6, student at Golden City Gymnastics, 930 Lithia Pinecrest Rd., Brandon.
Accomplishment: Last week, Light was named the champion of the 6-year-old division at a meet between Golden City and other local gymnastic schools. In the past year she has taken a medal at the Gasparilla Classic in St. Petersburg and finished fourth in an elite division at the state championships.
Details: Light excelled through two of the lower levels of gymnastics in a six-month span and at the age of 5 began competing at level 3, almost a year younger than any of her opponents. She trains at Golden City 12 hours per week and is considered a budding young star around the gym.
