WINTER HAVE, FL -- A Winter Haven has turned himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest on a domestic violence charge. John Demetrius Gilberry, 32, of Winter Haven for is charged with domestic battery. At about 11 p.m. on March 21, officers responded to an apartment in the Carlton Arms Apartments on Cypress Gardens Boulevard. The victim had gotten into a verbal argument with Gilberry that turned physical. Gilberry reportedly punched the victim, threw her to the ground numerous times and hit her in the head with a phone. The victim sustained minor injuries. Gilberry left the apartment before police arrived. Gilberry has a prior conviction for domestic battery from 2012. Image via Winter Haven Police
