Woman Seriously Injured When Ladder Falls Off Trailer Onto I-75

A North Port woman is in serious condition after her vehicle collided with a ladder that fell off a trailer and landed on Interstate 75.

RIVERVIEW, FL — A North Port woman is in serious condition after her vehicle collided with a ladder that fell off a trailer and landed on Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 3:35 p.m. Monday, Ernest David Beisner, 34, of Valrico was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck towing a trailer north on Interstate 75 when the unsecured ladder fell off the truck into the path of a Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by Brittany Kay McCuin, 26.

The Mitsubishi collided with the ladder, swerved into the median and overturned several times.

McCuin was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital South with serious injuries.

Beisner was cited for loss of load.

Monday's accident following another crash on Interstate 75 caused by a tire in the road on Saturday.

At 5:40 a.m. Jan. 11, William Swenson, 38, of Thonotosassa was driving a tractor-trailer truck south on I-75 approaching Gibsonton Drive when the truck collided with a large tire.

Swenson lost control and the truck overturned in the outside lane of I-75. Swenson was not injured.
