Boca Raton Council Approves Cemetery Rules Rewrite in Split Consent Agenda Vote (bocapost.com) — Boca Raton's City Council has rewritten the rules for the municipal cemetery and mausoleum, tightening and clarifying what decorations, benches, and monuments are allowed at graves. The 3–2 consent agenda vote immediately replaced 1996 regulations, while still permitting small items around birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Residents raised concerns about access, seating, and how strictly families' memorials will be limited.
3. Boca Raton Marks 10 Years of STEAM Through September With Passport Challenge (tapinto.net) — Boca Raton is kicking off its 10th annual STEAM Through September program, giving kids a passport to collect stamps at local spots like Gumbo Limbo, the Children's Science Explorium, and both city libraries. Families can plug into free or low-cost activities all month, from 3D printing and LEGO challenges to marine science, art projects, and a coastal cleanup.
4. Rocco's Tacos Among Three Boca Raton Restaurants Closed By Inspectors (bocapost.com) — Three Boca Raton restaurants, including Rocco's Tacos near Town Center, were temporarily shut down last week after state inspectors found pest and food-safety violations, though all quickly reopened. Inspectors also cited numerous other Boca eateries for high-priority issues, while one local McDonald's earned a near-perfect report, underscoring how widely inspection results can vary around town.
5. Only Two Weeks Left to Nominate for the Walk of Recognition's Milestone 30th Class (bocaratontribune.com) — Boca Raton residents have until September 15 to nominate neighbors for the 30th annual Walk of Recognition, which honors locals whose leadership and generosity have shaped the city. The Boca Raton Historical Society and Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum invite community submissions, with honorees memorialized by granite stars in Mizner Plaza at Royal Palm Place.
