Using security cameras, Boca Raton's Real Time Crime Center helped officers locate the suspect, who reportedly admitted to hitting several vehicles and remains in Palm Beach County Jail on multiple charges.
2. Boca Raton Wastewater Spill Prompts No Swim Advisory for Lake Boca and Intracoastal Waterway (bocapost.com) — If you boat, swim, or irrigate near Lake Boca or the Intracoastal by the Boca Raton Resort, you need to stay out of the water and stop using it on your lawn until further notice. A wastewater spill into Camino Real triggered a no swim and no irrigation advisory, and the city and state are testing for contamination with no clear end date yet.
3. Fire At Century Village Boca Raton Saturday Evening (bocanewsnow.com) — A small apartment fire at Century Village in West Boca Raton triggered a large Palm Beach County Fire Rescue response Saturday evening, but was quickly extinguished with no reported injuries. Crews found smoke and a minor fire in a Mansfield G unit, vented the building, and are still investigating the cause. Officials say such a sizable response is standard for high‑rise communities.
4. Flooding Closes Lanes on Nw 2nd Avenue in Boca Raton, Police Advise Detours (bocapost.com) — If you normally drive NW 2nd Avenue between 20th and 40th Streets in central Boca Raton, police say to avoid it for now because flooding has affected both directions. A Saturday night advisory urges drivers to use alternate routes and expect delays nearby. No timeline for clearing the high water has been given, so residents should watch for further police updates.
5. Boca Raton woman blows out 105 candles surrounded by loved ones (local10.com) — Boca Raton centenarian Katherine "Kay" Approbato just celebrated turning 105, marking the milestone with family and friends at 60 Vines Restaurant. A Brooklyn native who moved to Boca in 1980, she's spent the last 15 years at Edgewater in Boca Raton. Loved ones gathered to honor her long life, memories, and community roots in the city she's called home for decades.
