Over $24,000 raised for Make-A-Wish at the first Walk For Wishes Presented by The Learning Experience (South Florida)

The Learning Experience hosted its first ever Walk For Wishes, raising over $24,000 for children suffering from critical illnesses.

The Learning Experience®, one of the nation’s fastest-growing Academies of Early Education for children six weeks to six years old, partnered with Make-A-Wish® to raise over $24,000 in the early learning provider’s first joint "Walk For Wishes presented by The Learning Experience" on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Employees and families from The Learning Experience’s World Headquarters along with eight of its surrounding centers were part of the over 500 people in attendance at the five-kilometer walk/run at 3600 W. Sample Road in Coconut Creek to raise funds and awareness for Make-A-Wish, an organization dedicated to granting wishes of children with critical illnesses.

Beyond the walk/run which began at 8:30 a.m., The Learning Experience’s employees, children, family, and friends all participated in a family fun-day that included a Kids Zone with enrichment kit lessons, face painting, rock climbing, a kid’s dash, and other games. Sponsor’s included Butterfly World, Starbucks, Porta Potty, and more.

“It is our company culture to not only enrich the lives of the children we serve, but the communities in which we operate, and Walk For Wishes is emblematic of our commitment to giving,” said Andrew Alfano, President of The Learning Experience. “We are grateful to be able to continue to help such an exceptional organization by bringing together so many with one similar goal: changing the lives of children in need by restoring hope through wishes.”

The Learning Experience furthers its commitment to charities daily through its proprietary philanthropy-focused curriculum which was co-created with Make-A-Wish. This curriculum teaches the core tenets of selflessness, generosity and giving at a young age and encourages children to apply such values in the classroom, at home, and in the community. The Learning Experience’s unique philanthropy curriculum is believed to be the only nationwide curriculum of its kind. Additionally, the Academy of Early Education highlights internal and community outreach and acts of kindness through its Project Togetherness program.

The Learning Experience has been a proud partner with Make-A-Wish for several years and has helped raise over half a million dollars to date. Ninety-eight percent of parents feel the wish experience gives them the opportunity to be a “normal” family again. Additionally, The Learning Experience plans to host this family-friendly walk/run at additional centers of the Academy of Early Education nationwide.

With the help of Grace The Greyhound™ and Charity Chihuahua™, the lovable and huggable dog mascots for philanthropy at The Learning Experience, the philanthropy curriculum helps teach children that it is not how big or small you are, it is the size of your heart that matters. Through animation, classroom activities and participatory songs, Grace and Charity introduce children to topics like the value of helping others, volunteering and donating.
