Scott Storick on Little Ways to Give to Charity Without Effort

Scott Storick shares some ways that you can make a difference in your community and help out those in need without much effort on your part.

Donating to charities is no longer a lofty goal to be achieved when the time and money are right. It is now possible to give almost effortlessly to humanitarian causes. Philanthropy does not require deep pockets and plenty of spare time anymore -- it can be as simple as making a few clicks.

Clicks for Generous Donations
TheNonProfits.com lists over 60 charities that receive donations by clicks. Sponsoring advertisers pay for every click made and the proceeds go to chosen causes. It is literally possible to donate to dozens of organizations in this manner. TheNonProfits.com and other websites like Care2 offer the opportunity to help veterans, animals, the environment, education, and the hungry at no cost. The Breast Cancer Site provides free mammograms to needy women with each click on their site. Each of these sites encourages daily visits, so contributions can be “given” quickly and freely at any time every day.

Remote Ways to Empower
It is not necessary to be in the office of a charity to help out. Online volunteering brings organizations and volunteers together on any device and in any place in the world. The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program promotes global peace and development efforts. The UNV matches individuals with projects according to skills and interest.

Will Play for Free Food
Free Rice is a word game that gives 10 grains of rice to the World Food Programme for every correct answer. It costs nothing but spare time to play. The sponsors who advertise on Free Rice make the donations.

Contribute to the Big Picture
The free app Donate a Photo turns photos into cash for charities. Johnson & Johnson makes a $1 contribution toward any chosen charity for each picture “donated” through the app. One photo can be donated per day, so giving over $300 annually to a favorite cause is fun, painless – and possible for anyone with a mobile device.

Get Fit & Benevolent
The free Charity Miles app provides powerful motivation to be up and moving. It tracks activities such as walking, running and biking, converting them into donations. The app even logs the miles and offers options to donate to various organizations. Sponsor companies foot the bill.
