1 Injured in School Bus Crash on Gandy Bridge

No children were on board the bus from Bradenton at the time of the crash that closed the bridge for a time.

A St. Petersburg man is in serious condition at Tampa General Hospital following a Wednesday morning crash on the Gandy Bridge.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Jorge Cisneros, 38, of St. Petersburg was heading eastbound on the Gandy in a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe when he attempted to change lanes. As he did, he lost control and rotated into the path of a privately owned school bus out of Bradenton that was driven by Bruce Frankford, 69, of St. Petersburg.

Frankford attempted to avoid the crash, but couldn’t. The bus struck the driver’s side of the Santa Fe, an email from the highway patrol said.
