Cooper is said to have fled the scene to a SUV parked nearby. Once there, he collapsed and died from injuries sustained in the incident.

Smith, described as Cooper’s “accomplice” by deputies, was charged with second-degree felony murder Thursday since he was allegedly in the process of committing a crime when Cooper was shot and killed.
