Armored Truck Driver Robbed At Gunpoint: Manatee Sheriff

ELLENTON, FL — An armored truck driver was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning outside a Manatee County gas station, authorities said.

Deputies responded to reports that unknown suspects had robbed the driver of a Gardaworld armored truck while picking up a deposit at the One9 Fuel Stop in Ellenton just after 11 a.m., according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office news release.

The victim told investigators that he was held at gunpoint and forced to lie on the ground in the parking lot while masked individuals took his keys and went into the armored truck.

The men removed several bags containing an undisclosed amount of money before driving away from the area in what appeared to be a 2021 black Chevy Equinox, police said.

Detectives are looking for at least two unknown males, who were wearing long-sleeved shirts and black pants. It's believed another suspect, possibly a Black male in his early twenties, was in the SUV acting as a lookout person, police said.
