TX-Based Burger Chain Open 24/7 Plans Manatee County Location: Report

As a TX-based chain known for its massive burgers and being open 24/7 expands in FL, it's eyeing a new site in Manatee County, reports said.

PARRISH, FL — The Texas-based chain Whataburger, known for its massive burgers and being open 24/7, continues its expansion across the greater Tampa Bay area, as it eyes a new site in Manatee County.

The company recently filed plans with the Manatee County Development Services for a new restaurant in Parrish on Moccasin Wallow Road, the Bradenton Herald reported.

If approved, construction would take place next year, from January to August 2027, the Herald said.

Patch has reached out to Whataburger for more details. This story will be updated when they respond.

This would be its second in Manatee County, as the chain also plans to open a Whataburger in the master-planned Bradenton community SeaFlower Village Center, according to the report.

Whataburger, founded in 1950 as a roadside stand, returned to the Tampa area in February with a Largo location, and then opened restaurants in Lutz and Brandon in April.

These openings came after the chain closed 14 Florida restaurants, including five in the Tampa Bay market, in 2009, the Tampa Bay Times previously reported.

These new restaurants are part of a broader expansion across Central Florida, the company said in a previous news release.

The company also said it plans to open three more Central Florida locations by the end of 2026, including Orlando and Fort Myers later this year.

The chain now has more than 50 locations across Florida. Nationwide, there are more than 1,100 Whataburger restaurants in 17 states.
