Lakewood Ranch welcomes Mustangs to 2026-27

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) - Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) welcomed 2600 students to the 2026-27 school year.

With new and returning students coming back to campus after a lengthy summer, LRHS students and staff are buzzing with emotions.

New LRHS Principal Mike Mullen said, "I'm excited to build some positive culture, put in some rigor, and move this school forward this year."

"I want to make sure Lakewood Ranch is safe and sound," Mullen continued.

Everyone is preparing for this school year, especially seniors, who get ready to spend their last year at LRHS.

Senior Sienna Lee said, "I am so excited for this year for all the memories I'm going to be making, especially senior night and homecoming game for cheer."

Senior Julianna Fuschetto said, "I hope that this year is a good year with classes and with my senior goals."

The underclassman are also ready for the year.

Sophomore Sabrina Holden said, "I'm kind of nervous but excited. I'm happy to see all my old friends again."

Junior Michael Noon commented, "The first day of school is exciting, especially since I get to see friends and if I like my classes. It should be a good year."

School District of Manatee County Executive Director of High Schools Sharon Scarbrough said, "I am looking forward to another great year of welcoming students and getting them ready for the new school year. This year is going to have lots of learning and lots of growth and great things are going to happen."
