Bradenton woman faces upgraded felony charge after pedestrian dies (mysuncoast.com) — A Bradenton woman is now facing a first-degree felony charge after a pedestrian struck earlier this month on 14th Street West died from his injuries. Prosecutors say she initially left the crash scene and later returned briefly before leaving again. She was re-arrested and is currently being held without bond as the upgraded case moves forward.
2. Bradenton to launch new utility payment system Sept. 1 (thebradentontimes.com) — Bradenton is rolling out a new online utility payment system called Utility Access on September 1, replacing Paymentus and adding features like text-to-pay, AutoPay, and payment reminders. You can manage your account through the MyBradenton 311 app, and while you don't have to create an online profile, registering unlocks more tools to track usage and keep your contact details current.
3. Bradenton woman loses home, cat in early morning fire (mysuncoast.com) — A Bradenton woman lost her home and her cat after a Thursday morning kitchen fire quickly spread through her house, forcing her to escape as neighbors called 911. Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue crews knocked down the flames, but the home was left badly damaged. As investigators work to determine the exact cause, the American Red Cross is helping her with immediate needs.
4. Cleetus McFarland Making Dirt Late Model Debut At The Dome (floracing.com) — Bradenton-based YouTube star and racer Garrett "Cleetus McFarland" Mitchell is stepping up to make his Dirt Late Model debut at December's Gateway Dirt Nationals in St. Louis. Much of his massive motorsports following centers on the Bradenton-area Freedom Factory track he owns, and this move builds on recent NASCAR and ARCA experience as he tests his skills on dirt.
