Manatee County couple makes history with first locally designated historic landmark (wfla.com) — A Bradenton couple's Johnson Helm House in the Oneco neighborhood has become Manatee County's first locally designated historic landmark. After decades restoring the 120-year-old home, they secured unanimous county approval and hope the recognition inspires more preservation. They also envision eventually opening the distinctive Romanesque-style house to the public.
