Police identify suspect in Bradenton double homicide shooting, BPD says (bradenton.com) — Bradenton police say they've identified a suspect in last week's double homicide on 12th Avenue East, though the person hasn't yet been charged in the killings. The suspect is already jailed on unrelated charges as detectives and the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit continue piecing together what led to the deadly shooting of two local men.
2. More than 100 Local Residents Gain Lifesaving Skills Through HCA Florida Healthcare Hospitals (srqmagazine.com) — Bradenton residents recently had the chance to learn Stop the Bleed and Hands-Only CPR skills for free, thanks to HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals. More than 100 people across Bradenton, Venice, and Fort Myers received hands-on training from emergency professionals, helping neighbors feel more prepared to respond in a bleeding emergency or sudden cardiac arrest.
3. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick Headline Major 2027 Racing Event at Freedom Factory (motorbiscuit.com) — Bradenton's Freedom Factory will host the 2027 CARS Tour season opener on February 6, bringing NASCAR stars Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, and track owner Cleetus McFarland to town. The nationally recognized short track will see its first-ever CARS Tour race, with tickets set to go on sale October 19.
4. Palmetto woman stole nearly $65K from woman while she was jailed, police say (bradenton.com) — A Palmetto woman who worked for the 12th Circuit public defender's office is accused of stealing nearly $65,000 from a jailed woman whose finances she was supposed to manage. Sarasota police say the alleged thefts involved Zelle transfers, ATM withdrawals in the Palmetto area, and misuse of a power-of-attorney, and they're asking possible additional victims in Manatee and Sarasota counties to come forward.
