Arrest Warrants Issued for Shooting Death

Police are searching for 32-year-old Earl C. Scott in connection with the April 30 murder.

Arrest warrants have been issued for a local man wanted in connection with the shooting of 29-year-old Ruben Harris, who was killed on April 30.

Warrants for murder as well as possession of a firearm by a felon have been issued for Earl C. Scott, and the sheriff's office is actively searching for him.

Sheriff Brad Steube said Scott, 32, is the suspect in the shooting death of Harris, in the Shell gasoline station parking lot, located at 836 301 Blvd. E., in Bradenton.

With cooperation from DaVinci's Nightclub, 105 Cortez Rd., where the confrontation between Scott and Harris was said to have begun, and assistance from witnesses and the community, Scott was quickly  identified as a person of interest in the case and authorities were able to secure arrest warrants based on the information they gathered.

Preliminary information suggests the argument was over a girl and that it spilled over from the club to the parking lot at the nearby gas station.

Scott is identified a 6'2" tall and weighing 180 pounds. Authorities say Scott may be operating or may be a passenger in a silver 2005 Dodge Magnum with Florida license plates 836-OIR. Police expect that he is still in the area.

"We're hunting this guy and we want to find him as quickly as we can," Sheriff Steube said in an afternoon news conference on Tuesday.
