Back To School: Manatee County’s 2021-22 School Calendar

Everything parents, students in Bradenton need to know about the first day of school Tuesday, including COVID-1p protocols, important dates.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — It’s that time of year: Sarasota County students are heading back to school. It’s a moment many parents and children in the county have spent weeks preparing for.

The first day of school for most students in the School District of Manatee County is Tuesday.

Heading into the 2021-22 school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible in Manatee County.

Families should be aware of the school district’s policy on face masks and other COVID-19-related safety protocols, which the district shared in a back-to-school document for parents.

Face coverings are optional for all students and staff in schools and on buses. Masks will be available for those who need them.

Social distancing and hand washing will be encouraged throughout the school day and students will be reminded to do both.

The district asks parents to check the temperature of students before school and to keep home those who have a fever of 100.4 or higher or who have a cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or other coronavirus symptoms

Vaccinated students or those in a 90-day immunity period who are exposed to someone with COVID-19 won’t need to quarantine unless they show symptoms.

Unvaccinated students who are exposed but asymptomatic can return to school immediately if they wear a mask, social distance from others and are screened daily for symptoms for seven days.

Unvaccinated students who exhibit symptoms are required to quarantine when exposed to the virus, the district said. Quarantined students can return to school no earlier than the eighth day from their exposure with a negative COVID-19 test, otherwise they must remain quarantined for 10 days.

First Day: Aug. 10

Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22-26

Winter Break: Dec. 22 – Jan. 5

Spring Break: March 11-18

Last Day: May 26
