Bennett Won't Run for Congress

State Sen. Mike Bennett won't be running for Congress after all.

Less than a month after filing to run against U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa, the Bradenton Republican said Monday he doesn't have the "fire in the belly" for a campaign, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Although term limits will force him out of the Florida Legislature at the end of next year, Bennett said that won't spell the end of his career.

“Let me be clear," he said in a statement. "Is this the end of my life in politics? You all know me better than that.”
