Bicyclist Killed In Early Morning Crash In Manatee County

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on 15th Street East, south of the intersection with 61st Avenue East, police said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A bicyclist died after he was struck by an SUV in Manatee County on Saturday, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on 15th Street East, south of the intersection with 61st Avenue East, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement.

Troopers said a bicyclist was riding east across 15th Street East when he entered the path of a southbound 2008 Honda CR-V driven by a 38-year-old Bradenton man.

The SUV struck the bicyclist before overturning and crashing into the rear of an unoccupied 2011 Cadillac SRX parked on the east shoulder of the roadway.

The bicyclist suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of family.

The driver of the Honda was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
