4 Men Rescued After Boat Capsizes Near Skyway Bridge

All four men on board a small boat that capsized near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge Friday have been recovered uninjured.

According to St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue, a call came in just before 1 p.m. about the capsized boat. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies also responded.

Manatee County found one of the four men clinging to the boat, St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue reported in an email to media. St. Petersburg’s Marine 11 unit located the other three boaters about three-quarters of a mile offshore, floating west of the Skyway Bridge, the email said.

“None of the boaters were injured and they were all transferred to a Coast Guard cutter in the area,” the email said.

Further details are not yet available, including the identities of the four men.
