Bradenton Man Critical After Sarasota Crash

The wreck happened Sunday night along Richardson Way.

A 21-year-old Bradenton man was critically injured following a Sunday night wreck on Richardson Way in Sarasota.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon driven by Jacob Miller, 19, of Bradenton was heading north on Richardson Way around 8:40 p.m. when the crash happened. A 2005 Ford F150 driven by John Carlson, 21, of Sarasota was heading south on Richardson Road at the same time. When Miller approached a curve, he “failed to use due to care,” a patrol report stated.

Miller’s Tiburon crossed into the southbound lane and struck Carlson’s vehicle.

Miller and passenger McKenzie Peterson, 21, of Bradenton were uninjured. A 21-year-old passenger in Miller’s vehicle, however, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Blake Trauma Center.

Carlson and his passenger, Hallie Matthews, 20, of Sarasota were not injured.

Miller was cited for failure to use due care.

The injured man has not yet been identified by the highway patrol.
