Bradenton Man Guilty Of Fentanyl, Heroin Possession: DOJ

Larome D. Waiters, 31, faces at least 15 years in prison for possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, the DOJ said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 31-year-old Bradenton man was convicted of possession of fentanyl and heroin with the intent to distribute, the Department of Justice said in a news release.

Larome D. Waiters was also found guilty of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, officers arrested Waiters in August 2019 based on an active arrest warrant as he was coming out of an apartment wearing a fanny pack.

Inside the fanny pack, he had nearly 17 grams of a fentanyl and heroin mixture packaged for sale, the DOJ said.

Investigators also found two guns in the apartment. During an interview with law enforcement after his arrest, Waiters told officers that he was planning to sell the fentanyl and that he owned the guns, the DOJ said. As a previously convicted felon, Waiters is prohibited from possessing a firearm of ammunition under federal law.

Waiters faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and could be sentenced up to life in federal prison, the DOJ said. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 21.
