Because Of Driver Shortage, Bradenton’s Garbage Collection Schedule Changes Continue

As a CDL driver shortage continues, Bradenton is forced to extend its temporary alternating yard waste and recycling collection schedule.

BRADENTON, FL — Due to an ongoing CDL driver shortage across the solid waste industry, the city of Bradenton has extended temporary changes to its yard waste and recycling collection schedule continues into November.

Since July, the city's regular garbage collection has operated on its normal weekly schedule, but the shortage of drivers has made it difficult to collect both yard waste and recycling every week.

The city's temporary solution has been to switch every other week between the two. Yard waste will be collected one week, while recycling is picked up the next.

As the city continues to recruit and hire drivers, staff will review the city’s ability to return to the regular collection schedule on a weekly basis.
