Bradenton's Redevelopment Chief to Resign

The executive director of Bradenton’s Central Community Redevelopment Agency is leaving his post after seven years to join the Manatee Community Federal Credit Union on Feb. 6.

Sherod Halliburton has been tapped to serve as vice president of business development at the Manatee Community Federal Credit Union, the credit union announced Tuesday.

He last day working for the city of Bradenton is Feb 2.

His new role at the Manatee Community Federal Credit Union is to grow membership and the loan portfolio, establish strategic alliances and create new products.

“Joining Manatee CFCU affords me an opportunity to positively impact the lives of the residents of Manatee County by growing the capacity of one of the region’s premier financial institutions,” Halliburton said in a written statement.

Halliburton’s contributions to the city of Bradenton include:

• Relocating the 13th Avenue Community Center and developing the Norma Lloyd Park Complex as the recreational, educational, and cultural heart of east Bradenton.

• Founding CareerEdge Funders Collaborative of Manatee and Sarasota, a bi-county workforce funding collaborative.

• Launching Suncoast Community Capital, which creates economic opportunities for distressed communities in Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte and DeSoto Counties.

“I am passionate about my work and moving to a Community Development financial institution such as the Manatee Community FCU is a natural progression in my personal and professional pursuit toward the creation of economic opportunities and financial access for the residents of Manatee County,” Halliburton said.
