Bush Chimes in Against Medical Marijuana

Florida voters have the final say on Amendment 2 during the Nov. 4 election.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush has joined the chorus of people coming out against a proposal that would make medical marijuana legal in the state of Florida.

Saying Florida has worked too hard to build its reputation, Bush, in a statement, urged Floridians to say no to Amendment 2. That amendment to the state constitution will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot.

“Allowing large-scale, marijuana operations to take root across Florida, under the guise of using it for medicinal purposes, runs counter to all of these efforts,” the Tampa Bay Times quoted him as saying.

While Bush stands in company with such groups as the Florida Medical Association, the Florida Chamber and many law enforcement groups, recent polls show the measure is likely to pass.

Quinnipiac University determined recently that nearly nine out of 10 Floridians favor making medical marijuana legal.
