City Council Moves Forward on Manatee River Hotel Project
Council members vote 5-0 to designate the property a Brownfield area, making it eligible for environmental clean-up grants.
City Council members voted 5-0 on Wednesday to designate the 0.85 acres where the Manatee River Hotel is located as a Brownfield area for the purpose of environmental site rehabilitation and economic redevelopment.
The council also voted 5-0 in favor of developer Widewater Bradenton LLC being approved as a qualified Brownfield business.
The restoration of the Manatee River Hotel, also referred to as the "Pink Palace," is part of a large riverfront redevelopment project intended to boost the local economy and bring more people to downtown Bradenton. Various the 1920s-era hotel have stalled in recent years.
