City of Bradenton Extends Moratorium on Pain Clinics
Ordinance cracks down on "pill mills" while city waits for tougher state laws to take effect.
The Bradenton City Council on Wednesday unanimously voted to extend an 11-month moratorium on pain clinics within city limits.
Manatee County and other counties and cities around the state while waiting for tougher state regulations to take effect.
Last week, Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation that would crack down on "pill mills" and doctors who give out excessive numbers of prescription pills to drug dealers and abusers. The law goes into effect July 1.

"Most all of your legitimate pain clinics have not had a problem with this moratorium," city attorney Bill Lisch said.
