Deputy Arrested For Domestic Battery: Manatee County Sheriff

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputy was arrested Thursday night, the agency said in a news release.

Timothy Downey, Jr., 31, was charged with domestic battery. He resigned while being investigated.

Deputies responded to reports of domestic violence involving Downey and a woman he’s had “an off-and-on relationship with” just before 8 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators learned that he “put his hands on the female victim, after she asked him not to,” according to MCSO.

Downey was hired by the department in July 2018 and assigned to the Patrol Division.

Both an internal investigation and a criminal investigation are ongoing.
