Deux Requiems': Musica Sacra, First Brass and Redeemer girls' choir

Musica Sacra Cantorum Chorus, under the direction of conductor and founder Dr. Robert Parrish, presents “Deux Requiems,” Mon., April 13, at 7 p.m., at the Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota. The two requiems being featured are Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem Mass, the original 1887 version, and Chris Williams’ “Tsunami Requiem,” which recalls the 2004 tsunami that devastated Nagapattinam, a fishing village in South India, and killed more than 200,000 people. The concert will include Redeemer’s Canterbury Girls Choir, under the direction of the church’s Choirmaster and Organist, Ann Stephenson-Moe, and the First Brass of Sarasota, organized by Gary Reinstrom. Presented as part of Redeemer’s Great Music in Sacred Spaces series. Tickets are $20 and available online at redeemersarasota.org.
