Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton: How Manatee County Voted

BRADENTON, FL — A majority of Manatee County voters who managed to stay up to hear Donald Trump’s early Wednesday morning acceptance speech were likely quite pleased with the results. The Republican nominee soundly won over the county’s voters, delivering a landslide blow to Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Manatee County had a total of 181,829 registered 231,056 voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s election. That number amounts to a 78.69 percent turnout, according to the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections Office. The county had a Republican majority going into the Nov. 8 election with 100,723 voters registered with the GOP. Registered Democrats totaled 71,621 with 59,467 “others” also on the rolls.

According to unofficial election results from the Manatee County elections office, the numbers from Tuesday were as follows:

• Clinton – 71,066 votes, or 39.39 percent
• Trump – 101,681 votes, or 56.36 percent
• Gary Johnson – 4,169 votes, or 2.31 percent

Most counties in the Tampa Bay area went red in Tuesday’s election. The same cannot be said for Hillsborough County where voters favored Clinton 51.49 percent to Trump’s 44.69 percent.

Manatee County voters also went red in the 2012 election. In that race, they favored Republican Mitt Romney by 55.65 percent to President Barack Obama’s 43.22 percent, according to records from the Manatee County elections office.

Trump took the Sunshine State’s 29 electoral votes with a 49 percent victory to Clinton’s 47.79 percent, according to unofficial results from the Florida Division of Elections.

Results from Tuesday’s election are considered unofficial until they are certified by the state.
