Dr. Ronald Cirillo Appointed Medical Director at Turning Points

Dr. Ronald Cirillo, MD has been appointed in the newly created position of Medical Director at the Bill Galvano One Stop Center Clinic.

BRADENTON – Dr. Ronald Cirillo, MD has been appointed in the newly created position of Medical Director at the Bill Galvano One Stop Center Clinic at Turning Points.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to fill a long standing need in the community for the large underserved population here”, said Dr. Cirillo, the new Medical Director at Turning Points.

Dr. Cirillo will be responsible for overseeing the medical and dental clinic along Jill Hinman, the Turning Points Clinic Director, plus working with paid and volunteer healthcare professionals to provide quality healthcare to clients. The clinic provides free services to the uninsured and under insured. Just in the past 6 months, the medical and dental clinics have had 4,000 visits and have done over $440,000 in free services. Dr. Cirillo will also oversee the rotation of the 4th year medical students who provide primary care along with pharmacy students from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM).

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Cirillo leading the Turning Points health clinic. He has quickly developed a feeling for the needs of our clientele, and also of the staff and volunteers that work there daily. Health care for the indigent is one of Manatee County's most pressing problems, and with Dr. Cirillo at the helm we are poised to take a leadership role in this vital community priority”, said Sandy Kirkpatrick, President of the Board of Directors of Turning Points.

“We are so fortunate to have found a physician with Dr. Cirillo's level of expertise. His specialties of gastrointestinal and liver diseases are so pertinent to our population. Additionally, he will provide consistent supervision, coordination and leadership to the providers in the clinic. Under Dr. Cirillo's direction, the medical clinic at Turning Points will continue to expand programs and services to better meet the needs of the population we serve, said Jeannie Slater, member of the Board of Directors of Turning Points.

Dr. Cirillo was chosen for his commitment to medicine along with his incredible qualifications after an extensive search. His background encompasses 30 years of private practice in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Internal Medicine in Stamford CT. Dr. Cirillo's Internship and Residency was at Downstate Medical Center and Lutheran Medical Center in Internal Medicine. He also held a Fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Rutgers University Medical School. Dr. Cirillo also served as the Full Clinical Instructor at Columbia University Medical Center. He was also co-founder and CFO plus served on the Medical Advisory Board for The Diagnostic Endoscopy Center obtaining certification of AAAHC accreditation. Dr. Cirillo received his Doctor of Medicine and Surgery Degree from The Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara; his Master of Science Degree in Psychology and Counseling from Brooklyn College; and he received the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from St. John’s University.

Turning Points is the one stop shop for preventing and ending homelessness in our community.
