The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent drowning death in Bradenton.
Deputies responded to 9315 19th Drive. N.W. around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday on a drowning call, an email from the sheriff’s office stated. When they arrived at the home, they learned that Douglas Lesch, 68, had driven his electric wheelchair into the pool.
Lesch’s wife, the email said, found him and managed to get him to the pool’s steps. Lesch, however, was pronounced dead at the scene.
