DUI Wolfpack Announced for Friday

The Florida Highway Patrol plans to beef up enforcement in the Manatee County area.

Motorists out and about in Manatee County this Friday might want to take extra precautions to designate a driver if they plan on drinking.

The Florida Highway Patrol has announced a DUI Wolfpack Detail starting at 9 p.m. and going into the night.

These details are set up to “proactively remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,” wrote Lt. Gregory Bueno in an email to media. “Troopers conducting the detail will be mobile, monitoring traffic, in an effort to maximize their visibility and effectiveness in removing impaired drivers from the roadways.”

Drivers are considered impaired in Florida when they have a .08 blood alcohol content or higher.

Motorists who encounter an aggressive or impaired driver are urged to dial *347 from any cell phone to let troopers know about the incident.
