REMINDER: DUI Wolfpack Set for Manatee, Sarasota Counties

BREAKING: The Florida Highway Patrol will be on the hunt for impaired drivers in several area counties, including Manatee and Sarasota.

BRADENTON, FL — Motorists who travel through Manatee and Sarasota counties will want to think twice about turning the key after having too much to drink. The Florida Highway Patrol has announced plans to conduct a DUI Wolfpack this weekend.

According to the patrol, the troopers will hit the road starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5. The enhanced enforcement will continue through Saturday at 5 a.m. Counties included in the detail are Sarasota, Manatee, Desoto, Hardee and Highlands.

“FHP sets up such details to proactively remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,” a media release from the patrol said. “Troopers conducting the detail will be mobile, monitoring traffic, in an effort to maximize their visibility and effectiveness in removing impaired drivers from roadways.

Under Florida law, a motorist with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher is considered impaired. Drivers under the age of 21 with BACs of .02 or higher are considered impaired.

Motorists who encounter impaired or aggressive drivers may do so from their cellphones by calling *347.
