Durant High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse team starts 4th season

Durant High School Varsity Lacrosse readies for 2017 season

Varsity Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach Andrew Madden readies his team for their fourth season of varsity lacrosse. Prior to that the school had a club team for four years. In 2016 the team made it to the district finals. That was the best finish for the team in the three years as a varsity sport.

In the fours years since moving up to a varsity sport Coach Madden the biggest challenge and change has been the "Lacrosse IQ". Gaining and understanding of the game is always a step behind the athleticism the boys bring to the field. The dozen seniors that started as freshman have gained a true understanding of the game.

Andrew is working with the Coyotes youth league and travel teams to try to get players interested in playing at the high school level. The recreation and travel programs are key. For 2017 there are several freshmen and sophomores that have played at the youth level and the hope is that that will become the norm.
