(Lakewood Ranch, FL) The Lakewood Ranch Y is hosting its first interactive fund-raising dinner on Saturday, May 12 at 6:30 at the Fete Ballroom at the Polo Grill. The evening features delicious food, libations and terrific entertainment. The Taste of Argentina benefits the Y For All Scholarship campaign. This is a first for the Lakewood Ranch Y, which recently opened 13,000 square feet of new space and 7,000 square feet of renovated space that includes additional room for a teen center, fitness center, aerobics area and yoga studio.
“There are real needs among families in the greater Lakewood Ranch area. The economic downturn affects so many, and sometimes the children and teens are hardest hit,” said Scott Morin, the director of the Lakewood Ranch Y. “With scholarships, we can make sure that families of all descriptions can have the Y experience.”
The event includes a lively, interactive dinner led by Chef Tommy Klauber. He will give step-by-step directions so that everyone at each table has the opportunity to ‘step up to the burner.’ Each guest takes a turn cooking a course. As Chef Tommy is giving cooking instructions, comedian Tim Wilkins is giving his own set of comments. Wilkins is a nationally-acclaimed comedian and television host who lives in Bradenton and is recognized for keeping it clean while being delightfully funny. There will also be an authentic tango dance demonstration and a live auction. One of the auction items is a private interactive dinner for a party of 12 at the Polo Grill.

“This is what the Y is about. We care about the whole person and families in our community. We don’t want to leave anyone behind,” said Morin. “And we really like to have fun, too.”
“Where else can you have a great evening complete with beverages, gourmet food, terrific comedy, all to benefit a great cause, for only $100 a person? It’s the best of everything. Plus, it’s informal attire!” said Lakewood Ranch Y Board Chairman Ron Masseo.
