Pedestrian Dead After Bradenton Crash

The accident happened along State Road 64 Tuesday morning.

BRADENTON, FL — A 73-year-old Bradenton man is dead following a collision with a car on State Road 64 Tuesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, John Hughes Frye was standing in the center grass median facing north on State Road 64, west of Greyhawk Boulevard, around 8:21 a.m. As Frye attempted to cross the road, he walked into the path of an oncoming Nissan Altima driven by Elizabeth Ganim, 18, of Fort Myers.

Ganim, a highway patrol report said, did not see Frye and Frye did not see the vehicle. The Altima did not have headlines on, only parking lights, the report noted.

Frye was pronounced dead by the medical examiner’s office, the patrol noted.

Ganim was charged with careless driving.
