Car Impounded In Fatal Manatee County Hit-And-Run: FL Highway Patrol

A Sarasota bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on State Road 70 in Manatee County Friday night, FL Highway Patrol said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL β€” Troopers are looking for a hit-and-run driver that killed a bicyclist Friday night in Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol.

A 28-year-old Sarasota man on a bicycle was hit by a car around 9 p.m. while crossing State Road 70 in a crosswalk, near the intersection with Caruso Road.

The victim was thrown from his bicycle and brought to Blake Hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead on Saturday, FHP said.

The car involved in the crash drove away from the scene. It was later impounded from a Manatee County home, the agency said.
