Share Your 2021 Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve Plans: FL Patch Holiday Survey
Florida Patch wants to know about your plans for the holiday season — from holiday shopping to family meals to COVID-19 precautions.
FLORIDA — With more Floridians vaccinated against COVID-19 and the number of new cases dropping significantly in the state, it looks like residents can expect a more typical holiday season this year compared to 2020.
Since a significant delta wave hit Florida this summer, cases have dropped in recent months, with only about 11,000 new coronavirus cases reported the week of Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, according to the Florida Department of Health.
At the same time, 73 percent of eligible Floridians 12 and older — and increase from the summer — have been inoculated against the virus, the FDH said.

It’s a very different landscape from last year, when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended against holiday travel and gatherings.
Now, the CDC only recommends COVID-19 precautions so you can gather safely with friends, family and loved ones over the holidays. Guidelines include getting vaccinated, celebrating outdoors whenever possible and wearing a mask.
