Flood Warning Issued for Manatee River, More Storms Likely
Recent heavy rains have caused the Manatee River to rise above its flood stage.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Manatee River through early Thursday morning.
The service says recent heavy rains have caused the river to rise above flood stage near Myakka Head. Minor flooding is anticipated to last into Thursday afternoon and perhaps longer if rains continue.
Motorists are urged to avoid driving through flooded areas.

Rain chances for the area have been set at about 60 percent today and into the overnight hours with thunderstorms likely. Those chances drop down to 30 percent Thursday.
