Florida Man Stole $100K In Hurricane Ian Relief Money: Police

The funds were meant for Florida Moose Lodges affected by the storm, according to police.

PALMETTO, FL — A Florida man is accused of stealing more than $100,000 in Hurricane Ian disaster relief funds from the Palmetto Moose Lodge, authorities said.

According to a statement from the Palmetto Police Department, William Andrew Luff of Palmetto stole the funds before chapter officials could distribute the relief funding to other Florida Moose Lodge chapters.

Luff stole the money and fled, according to police, but authorities later arrested him in Tampa.

Police said officers recovered a majority of the stolen cash, which will be returned to the Palmetto Moose Lodge.

Police did not say whether Luff will face charges in connection to the incident.
