Free Cemetery Tours Offered At Manatee Village Historical Park In October
The Manatee Village Historical Park in Bradenton will offer free, staff-led tours of Manatee County's oldest public cemetery Oct. 9, 23.

BRADENTON, FL β The Manatee Village Historical Park, located at 1404 Manatee Avenue East in Bradenton, will offer free, staff-led cemetery tours Oct. 9 and 23.
Three daytime tours exploring the oldest public cemetery in Manatee County will be given both days.
The 1850 Manatee Burying Ground was the first burying ground for the Village of Manatee, the first established community between Tampa and Key West dating back to 1842, according to a news release from Manatee Village. The Burying Ground was in use from 1850 to 1892 with a few family burials occurring up until the 1960s.

During the hour-long tour, guests will explore different facets of county history while being guided by a staff member. These tours will be available at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. both days.
Appropriate clothing and footwear are encouraged. Tours take place outside with natural elements and will include extended periods of standing and walking, uneven ground, and exposure to sunlight and rain, Manatee Village said.

At staff discretion, tours may be cancelled due to inclement weather. The rain date will be Nov. 13.
Tours are free but space is limited to 15 people. Reservations are not required but are encouraged as availability of space on the day of the tours is not guaranteed.
