​Freedom Varsity Boys Lacrosse opens the season 2-0

Coach Chuck Graves is in his 1st season as head coach of the Freedom Varsity Boys Lacrosse team. Chuck grew up in Columbus Ohio playing high school lacrosse. Chuck recently moved from Texas to Florida and teaches at Pasco Middle School.

Chuck brings a love of the game and a desire to coach young men to the job of head coach. Chuck started coaching right out of high school and is in his 4th year as coach. He coached at Central Catholic in Texas.

Coach Graves sees Florida catching up fast to the rest of the country that has had lacrosse as a varsity sport for 10, 20 and 30+ years.

The strength of the Freedom team is the midfielders, defense and goalies. Overall depth and a better attack is something they look to improve on in 2107. Many Patriots players are club players with good while there are players new to lacrosse. The "IQ" is the toughest area to pick up. Anticipation comes with experience. Knowing when to pressure in one area that take time to understand.

Coach Graves said parents are very supportive of the team as is the school itself. The coach is very excited about the 2-0 start to the season with wins over Durant and Tampa Tech.
