Gettel Kicks Off Bradenton Back-to-School Drive
Gettel's locations in Sarasota and Bradenton are collecting school supplies for area kids.
BRADENTON, FL — The Gettel automotive group is pulling out the stops to help make sure kids in the Bradenton and Sarasota areas are ready to hit the books this fall. The company has announced the kickoff of its S.O.S. (Support Our Students) Backpack School Supply Drive.
During the drive, which runs through Aug. 6, Gettel will match financial donations up to a total amount of $10,000. It is also accepting donations of items and cash at all six of its locations in the Bradenton and Sarasota areas.
To make donating even easier for folks who want to help out, Gettle has even launched a GoFundMe campaign for the drive. Donations can be made right online, benefitting kids in Manatee and Sarasota counties. All supplies will be donated to the education foundations in the two counties.

On Aug. 6, Gettel also plans to park a truck outside the University Parkway Target, 101 N. Cattlemen Road, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. During that time, people can drop off supply donations in an effort to "stuff the truck."
“Education is the most powerful tool we can give our children,” said Ellen Walther, Gettlel’s spokeswoman. “Without the needed supplies, many of our teachers are buying these supplies with their own money. We want each student to start the 2016-2017 on an even bases and have then needed supplies to make this school year a success.”

Supplies being collected include such items as:
- Colored pencils
- Pocket folders
- 3-ring binders
- Glue sticks
- No. 2 pencils
- Sun screen
- Backpacks
- Notebook paper
