While accepting the award Haeussler spoke about an upcoming interest of hers, the Daffodil Project.

The Daffodil Project is an effort to plant daffodils on campus to remember the 1.5-million children killed during the Holocaust.

Haeussler added, “LRHS was one of 15 local schools to be chosen for the Daffodil Project. The daffodils come from Israel, where they were specially grown to suit our climate.”

All the Daffodils were donated by the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee.
