BRADENTON, FL — A second suspect faces charges for his involvement in the murder of a homeless man in Bradenton about two weeks ago, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Douglas Gray, 57, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after admitting to helping Stephen Astbury Jr., 59, with the murder of a fellow homeless man in a camp where they all stayed in the 3700 block of 14th Street W.

Astbury was arrested and also charged with second-degree murder earlier this week.

The motive for the killing of the victim, a 64-year-old man, whose name is being withheld, is unknown, MCSO said.

The man’s body was found in a bag buried at the camp Monday night after the agency received a tip, the sheriff’s office said.
