Homeowners Caught Auto Burglars in the Act, Deputies Say

Three arrests were made following a Monday morning burglary spree.

BRADENTON, FL – Three people face criminal charges after Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies say a couple caught them rummaging in their car early Monday morning.

According to the agency, the incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. at 113 New Briton Court. A husband and wife heard noises in their driveway. The husband went outside to investigate and found two young men going through his belongings. As the husband ran after the men, his wife called deputies.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they spotted a third person on the street holding two bags. Deputies also caught up with the two suspects the husband chased a short while later.

Upon further investigation, deputies discovered that a total of five cars in the neighborhood had been broken into. None of the cars were locked, the agency noted in an email to media.

Three people were charged in the burglaries: Avery Walters, 18, Brandon Chisan, 18, and a 17-year-old boy who isn’t being identified.
