Lakewood Ranch Boulevard Extension Gets Greenlight
Sarasota County Commissioners gave their approval Wednesday.
A plan to extend Lakewood Ranch Boulevard to Fruitville Road has received a go-ahead from the Sarasota County Commission.
The extension will provide a north-south route to the east of Interstate 75, and will also serve a proposed development that’s been pitched by Lakewood Ranch’s developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, the Bradenton Herald reported. The Villages will combine commercial and residential development, adding an estimated 5,000 new homes to the area.
Commission approval came Wednesday for the road project. The greenlight simply provides the go ahead for SMR to begin design work.
