Lakewood Ranch takes golf titles

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) boys and girls golf teams won their district championships and will advance to regionals.

On Monday, Oct. 25 the girls team placed first at the 3A region 2 district 7 championship. This is the third consecutive title for the team.

Girls head coach Mick Koczersut said, “This group of girls have worked year-round to get better and showed it at districts.”

On Saturday, Oct. 23 the boys team took also home first place in the district championship with a score of 306. Freshman Jaxon Brown lead the team and the match with a final of 74.

Boys head coach Dave Frantz said, “It was a very tough day with the rain and wind today, but our guys held it together. We are looking forward to the region championship next week.”

The boys team is now 128-15-1 on the season.

Before districts, the boys team placed first at the Annual Manatee County Championship.

Both teams will be back in action at regionals next week.
